This thread is the complete opposite of the National Intelligence Services thread.  Everything posted here is publicly known IC.

The main point of this thread is so that real quick news can be created without making a massive news thread post.  However, by using This thread, you acknowledge the fact that the Press has access to whatever event you're announcing quickly.

The only way this can be avoided is if you add to your post:
"(AP/Reuters/AFP) via (your national news service here)"

This would go to say, that the international news service recieved this news via a different source.  Those marked in such a manner cannot be responded to in this thread due to the fact that the press cannot comment on the issue because they do not have access to it themselves.

All posters in this thread should consider themselves as working for the AP or Reuters or the AFP.  Those who respond must state whom they represent (government, company, individual, etc).

10 June

]As the sun get more and more heated and the calendar quickly flaps toward the summer, the Ministry of Tourism and the Conf-Alberghi (Hotels Guild) are excited at the supposed number of tourists from all over the world that chosen Giubero-Scebeli for their vacations. This year's report confirms a growing trend from the past years that sees our kingdom as a more and more renowned tourist location, bringing opportunities and employment from the white-sanded beaches to the natural reserves of the mainland.

In order to face this oncoming summer, the Civil Protection is preparing with enough staff and items, especially for "heat-strokes" and related illnesses.

A notice of alert comes from the Vigili del Fuoco (Firefighters) as well, as the menace of wild fires becomes a daily issue during summertime.

New Government Formed

AP - Alexandroupoli, Epirus

After a week of negotiations Alexandros Theotokis, leader of the Conservative Democratic Party, has announced the formation of a new Government with the Liberal Party and supported by the Christian Democratic Party. In an election suffused with historical and political significance, the Conservative Democratic Party-Liberal Party-Christian Democratic Party opposition bloc won 88 seats, eight more than the 80 required for an overall majority, while the Social Democratic Union collapsed to 32, worse than its dismal 2010 performance, that barely secured them enough seats to form a Government.

On June 5th Theotokis and his wife, Ioanna, travelled to the Palace of St. Michael where he accepted the invitation of the King to form a government. Less than two hours earlier Prime Minister Ioannis Stylianidis handed in his resignation to the king.

The election result has claimed the scalps of an unprecedented two party leaders in one day as Social Democratic Union’s Ioannis Stylianidis and the United Communist Party’s Apostolos Tritsis announced their resignations. Ioannis Stylianidis was already in a precarious position as support for his leadership of the party has been increasingly contested, partly due to his policies as Prime Minister, but also because of his actions during the Dimitratos-scandal last year. The poor election result was the finally straw and before his opponents could oust him, Stylianidis announced his resignation as General Secretary of the party on June 6th.

Speaking on the steps of the Prime Minister's Office, Alexandros Theotokis promised to rebalance the economic recovery and give the poorest Epirotes the chance of training for a job and hope for the future. He also promised to reduce the tax rate paid by the highest and lowest earners and provide tax incentives for investment, both foreign and domestic.

Victory for the All-Union Fatherland Front; Yulia Tymoshenko Prime Minister

AP via UNA

The electoral commission has announced that the winner of the parliamentary elections to the Supreme Council (Verkhovna Rada) is the All-Union Fatherland Front led by long-serving politician Yulia Tymoshenko, who will be asked to form a new government.

The All-Union Fatherland Front is supported by its allies, the Social Democratic Party, Renaissance, and Forward Ukraine!, winning a clear majority of the 450 seats available. The opposition National Democratic Alliance, led by Kost Levytsky, has accepted the results and Mr Levytsky has telephoned Ms Tymoshenko to congratulate her on the results.

In a speech given just after the results were announced, Ms Tymoshenko said, "I promise to govern in the name of all citizens, all people regardless of political affiliation - we are stronger together and together we can overcome the challenges that face us. I will work tirelessly with my colleagues and with the people of our Republic to improve the lives of all citizens. Our Fatherland is stronger because we are stronger together!"

The Supreme Council will have its first session of the new government's term on 1st July.

Congo Conflict Growing

AP-Kinshasa, Warlordia - What has been dubbed the “Holy War in the Congo” has moved out of rural eastern Warlordia and into the heart of Warlordian society. Late last night a pair of car bombs rocked the city of Kinshasa. 47 people have been reported killed and the number of wounded has risen above 300. The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), the terrorist army of the LRC, has claimed responsibility and has declared that it will continue strikes to “cleanse the region of evil”. The LRC has been waging a war against Warlordia for nearly nine months. The LRC was formed after the death of Joseph Kony, the infamous leader of the LRA, by one of his sons. Central African governments has expressed concerns that the group may be planning to target other countries in the region. Those mostly at threat are West Angola, Zawabi, Sar-Aksum, and Cape Company, based on comments made by the LRA.

Brest Region Declares Independence

At 12:00 Further Eastern European Time (FET) today, the Independence Committee of the Free Republic of Brest (FRB) declared independence from Belarus.

The official announcement came during a speech at Brest Fortress by noted dissident leader and Committee member Alexander Janukevich, who said, "The people of Belarus and the people of Brest must decide their own destinies and our destiny is no longer linked with that of the Central Government's. I hereby declare the Free Republic of Brest independent!"

This announcement was vigorously denied by the Central Government in Minsk; Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said, "There is no independence movement. Belarus is already independent."

However, the Republic of Galicia-Volhynia has already recognised the new republic and is rumoured to be supporting it politically and militarily.
