Factbook of the Republic of Praugsia

I. Basic Information

1. Country Name and Three Letter Acronym: Republic of Praugsia (PRG)

2. Capital: Budapest

3. Background: The First Praugsian nation was established in 2007 when Hungary, Western Romania, and Bulgaria united under one flag. The original Praugsia was a dictatorship ruled by a ruthless and violent leader. In 2008, the dictator was overthrown in a revolution. During this time, Praugsia lost control of Bulgaria and Western Romania, but united with Slovakia and formed a new regime. Eventually, a communist government took power and began expanding into Croatia and Slovenia. This time proved to be a violent one; several revolutions took place, dramatically changing the government of the country more than twice. In 2009, the communists finally gained full control, and Praugsia became stable. It annexed Bosnia, Austria, and Trieste over the course of a few months.

Eventually, Praugsia signed an alliance with New Aleksandrovsk and the Latin Union. The alliance, the Socialist Trade and Relations Organization (STARO) became one of the world's most powerful, even daring to stand up to the might of the rapidly expanding and massive Holy Orthodox Empire. This conflict resulted in a new Cold War in Europe. Both sides stood ready for war, but war was avoided. Praugsia endured yet another revolution during this time, becoming a republic. This dissolved STARO and allowed the HOE to expand. Praugsia's power and influence became much smaller, but the nation continued to grow. In 2010, in the midst of war, the communists once again took power. This proved to be the downfall of old Praugsia, as its former wartime ally Byzantium declared war on the communist regime. The combined forces of Byzantium and the Latin union was too much for Praugsia, and it lost most of its territory during this time, leaving it with only Hungary and Slovakia. Shortly after, another revolution took place, putting in power an emperor. In an attempt to preserve itself in the face of near collapse, Praugsia signed an alliance with neighboring Austria, forming a dual empire. The alliance didn't last very long, and after a few months, the nation collapsed. Austria annexed all of Praugsia's former territory.

In 2011, a tiny nation calling itself Praugsia emerged in the Czech lands. It was a small dictatorship that devoted all of its budget to its military. The nation did not last very long, and collapsed that same year. This entity is not officially recognized by the current regime as Praugsia, and is not considered an ancestor nation.

Now, Praugsia has returned once more: this time as a republic. Its economy is growing, as well as its military. The new nation hopes to eventually become one of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous. The violence of Praugsia's past is behind it, and peace is the future for this new republic.
