Title: AUSC Elections: Feb-Jul
Post by: Glashima on January 15, 2009, 09:27:17 PM
Candidates for the AUSC seat are as follows:

OOC: Unless I am mistaken there are no AU reps in this subregion, Praugsia quit, Belyorussia never applied, Kanin was never approved, Russia never applied, DC is absent, Poland quit, I can't find UKNA's application, though I seem to loosely recall it, Latin Union is an observer, and though Weaver is considered a member he actually has never met the criteria, the criteria when he applied was 3 votes yes and a yes from the AUSG and he has only 2 votes yes, and an AUSG vote yes. If there is any debate, I will award the position to Weaver.

Thank you to Glashima for setting up the elections.

As a matter of good principle I am working to get a third "yes" vote and make my membership official.  I mistakenly thought the criteria was 2 yes votes.  My apologies.

Weaver will send a representative to the AU if no other Northern Sub-Region nation applies; it is important that the Northern Sub-Region be present in this organization.

Now that I have the AUSG approval and the three required votes I am officially a full member of the AU.

And you are the approved AUSC member for the north by defacto selection.

(Applause applause)

(Whisper - "Didn't you mean to say, 'unanimous selection'?  It sounds so much more appealing!!")

Dear God this is a nightmare scenario! Never in the history of the AU has there only been one candidate from the north. I hope that Weaver is able to galvanize his neighbors to join the AU.  It is in everyone's interest to work together through multilateralism, and the AU embodies that better than any other organization.

We would appeal to the UF's documents cluttering the desks that the UKNA and Glashima have applied for membership in the AU (northern region) and are awaiting approvals for entry.

thank you, UKNA & Glashima.

The EC is working well as a forum to address Northern Sub-Region events at present but there will be a time when the AU will allow us to engage other regions as well.  It is wise to have our presence there.
