The Duchy of Rossheim was proclaimed at Kimberley on New Year’s Day 2006 following the collapse of the South African government, and swiftly established control over the Northern Cape, Transvaal and Free State. Political opposition was suppressed in the aftermath of an unsuccessful coup, but the eventual reunification of South Africa was achieved peacefully, with the Treaty of Bloemfontein (15 January 2006) paving the way for the establishment of the Empire of Rossheim on 24 January 2006. Emperor Christoph I was killed in an accident on 2 April and succeeded by his cousin, deputy head of state Johanna Yamamura-Rossheim, who as Empress Johanna I engineered the peaceful annexation of the former Green Free State on 9 July 2006. The Empire of Rossheim was abolished on 19 July 2006, but was restored three months later under the joint rule of Emperor Christoph II and Empress Johanna I. |
