Simerza is a coastal nation which encompasses the entirity of Africa's Horn. This unique location means that Simerza'a inhabitants are a diverse mix of Africa and Arabia. The region was also a source of biological resources during the Antiquity: The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans sent expeditions to the region for frankincense, myrrh, dragon's blood or cinnabar and took these commodities back along the Incense Route. Therefore the Romans called this region Regio Aromatica. It is now simply refered to as Simerza a unification of modern Somalia, Eritrea & Djibouti.
About 220 mammals are found in Simerza. Among threatened species of the region, we find several antelopes such as the beira, the dibatag, the silver dikdik and the Speke’s gazelle. Other remarkable species include the Somali wild ass, the desert warthog, the hamadryas, the Somali pygmy gerbil, the ammodile and the Speke’s pectinator. The Grevy's zebra is the unique wild equid of the region.
There is a great Italian feel in the country, the land having previously been occupied by Italy. In the country's many cities, Asmara has been known to attract most attention being one of the world hotspots of the 1950's modernist architecture movement. Mogadishu, the capital is somewhat more mellow and is the thriving economic centre of the nation. |

Although Economic Figures show Simerza to be a relatively poor nation, economic growth has been very powerful and the relative stability in the nation since unification means this is likely to continue. Simerza is now also looking towards tourism for its revenue and the manufacturing industry is also on the rise. The GDP growth rate is one of the highest in Africa and The People’s Republic is regarded as the most fashionable African nation. The country’s second city Asmara has even dubbed the Miami of Africa indicative of the nation’s relative democracy and snazzy Italian feel. |
